As a few of you know, a couple of weeks ago I sold my 1997 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I then used the proceeds of said sale to purchase this work of technological art. It was slightly out of our budget. I think that with the new directions we will be going at Ninjicity(dot)com, I figure it was well worth it. Also, with us being currently in the middle of changing of locations and living arrangements, we need something mobile. For months I had issues getting my Vic to pass SMOG. It turned out to be something completely retarded. The car's computer detected a misfire. My hypothesis is that it was due to a clogged fuel filter and bad spark plugs. Neither of them had been changed in ages, no tune-up of any kind performed since it was a fleet vehicle. It seemed completely feasible. Now comes the main reason why it was sold. Don't get me wrong. I am lazy. The only thing that overshadows my laziness is my hypocrisy (though not by much. It's only a five-o-clock shadow). Tara and I had been talking about vehicular downsizing. With her going to school days and I working nights, it made more sense to for us to combine funds into a single gas tank. Plus, I didn't want to fix it. Hell, I drove the shit out of it until I found a buyer. Luckily, I found a buyer and it was gone (and I was 1,000 dollars richer). Then came a last paycheck at my previous job, and I had the funds for this venture.Enough about the how, let's get to the "THE." This MacBook is a magnificent work of art. It's not only aesthetically pleasing, it is also a completely capable machine. Apple not only graced it with the best operating system on the market, but they also have some great program developers in their midst. Aside from that, there are numerous companies and individuals who devote their time and energy to this platform. I'm not going to get all fanboyish here, but it really is a pleasure using this little machine. It is very reminiscent of my old PowerBook (if it were Intel-based and had a 13.3 inch screen).I'm sorry. In reading this, I realize how much this sounds like an eighth grader's thesis on technology and business. I'm not trying to sell a point of view, I'm not trying to sell the reasons behind my purchase to a bunch of shareholders. I guess, when it all boils down to it, I'm trying to sell the purchase to myself. I guess I'm a little freaked over the economic downturn. I have a company I've been trying to raise from the ground for the last 5 years. I was developing social media and building a social network before the phrase was coined and subsequently a household name. I guess now this feels like a now or never. I've heard from numerous sources that it is best to build after a downturn. Google became big after the "tech bubble" burst.
