Jeb Bush: GOP should create ‘a shadow government’By David Edwards Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush told Newsmax correspondent Ashley Martella that Republicans should create “a shadow government” to challenge Democrats.“In Washington we need to show humility and be the loyal opposition. I actually think we need to organize ourselves the form of a shadow government and make it based on policy and not on partisanship,” he said.Bush believes that the Republican Party needed to broaden is appeal and avoid being “the old white-guy party.”“It means recruiting candidates that look like the population we are trying to attract to our cause,” said Bush.Newsmax has more details here. This video is from Newsmax.com, broadcast Dec. 1, 2008. http://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/jeb_bush_interview/2008/11/30/156557.html

Dec 1, 2008 - Way to go Bush... Capitalize on mutual hate of gays. Great job. Keeping the family spirit alive, eh?

goodbyegoodhair Says:

Dec 1, 2008 - Does anyone really expect a Bush to have any real clue as to how to rebuild the party? People will always know the Republican party as the party of bigotry when they oppose giving gay people equal rights.

jqjacobs Says:

Dec 1, 2008 - Not being the "Old White Guy" party because it does no work! Just maybe, if the Republican attitude was "we need to represent all Americans," all you 'old white guys' might still be relevant. Not to mention, saying you are the 'old white guys' party fails to acknowledge women! Just opening your mouth loses votes.

thegloriouscause Says:

Dec 1, 2008 - in other words, we need to groom candidates who will be able to fleece the american people into liking us so we can remain in power.

nutballz2020 Says:

Dec 2, 2008 - Just the use of the term 'shadow government' reminds me of Ollie North and Ronnie Raygun. Let's amend the constitution so that any and all progeny of Prescott Bush or Herbert Walker can never become elected in this country ever again.

smtpgirl Says:

Dec 2, 2008 - The Shadow Government appears to be operating according to some plan. Commentators dubbed this plan the "New World Order", suggested by the use of that phrase in a speech by GHWB, referring to the state of affairs following the end of the Cold War. Actually, that phrase goes back to the beginning of the Republic, & appears on the Great Seal of the US as the motto, Novus Ordo Seclorum. What the Shadow govt.itself calls the plan is uncertain, however, some of its elements are now emerging.

Dec 3, 2008 - Stupid fucking moron. The Bush family only creates messes they can't fix (...or don't want to fix.)

Dec 3, 2008 - Trying to appear as a 'Ronald Reagan' type of conservative I suppose. FAIL.

Ender1zero1 Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - IMO as a Country we've had about all the Bush we can stand. Please go away Jeb nothing personal you might even be a decent person but you're a Bush, you're family has done enough to We the People. If you feel a need to do something positive politics is not the answer we as Country do not need the strife your candidacy would cause.

countess1900 Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - The Bush name has been tied to EVERY war, calamity, and disaster in America since WWII and they have profited greatly. They propose to be the voice of the moral conservative but use the term to polarize the people. Boycott anything connected with the name. NO MORE BUSHES!!!

chgosatrap Says:
